Honor the Fallen: Volume 1


Lt. Col. Christopher K. Raible, 40, of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and Sgt. Bradley W. Atwell, 27, of Kokomo, Indiana, died during an insider attack in September of 2012.

Raible, a pilot, was the commander officer of a Harrier squadron. He was a member of Marine Attack Squadron 211, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing headquartered at San Diego’s Miramar Marine Corps Air Station.

Atwell was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.

Prince Harry, the third in line to the British throne, is doing a tour of duty as a helicopter pilot and was stationed at Camp Bastion at the time of the attack, but was not hurt.

The attacking insurgents wore U.S. Army uniforms when they assaulted the base, killing the two Marines, wounding nine other people and destroying six Harrier fighter jets, officials said.

The insurgents caused more than $200 million worth of damage in the attack, which The Taliban claimed responsibility for.
