A marine held in prison in Iran has begun a hunger strike, according to his family there. Amir Hekmati has served the United States as a Marine and now serves the Islamic Republic of Iran as a prisoner whose death sentence for espionage was commuted to 10 years. Read more
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has pushed back all inspections, promotions, and orders for troop movements until the day after he leaves office, sources confirmed Thursday.
“Hagel doesn’t care anymore,” said Gen. Martin Dempsey. “He’s been showing up late to formation hungover in a rumpled suit. Once I heard him muttering ‘let the next guy deal with it.’ I even caught him sleeping in a broom closet during field day.” Read more

WASHINGTON – President Obama has approved sending up to 1,500 additional U.S. troops to Iraq, doubling the number being deployed to help Iraqi forces fight the Islamic State.
The president also requested an additional $5.6 billion on Friday for the war against the Islamic State, in part to cover the additional deployments. Read more

WASHINGTON — A Union Army officer who stood his ground during the Battle of Gettysburg and paid with his life is receiving the nation’s highest military honor from President Barack Obama.
Obama on Thursday was bestowing the Medal of Honor on 1st Lt. Alonzo H. Cushing, who was killed in July 1863 during the three-day battle near the Pennsylvania town. The battle often is described as the turning point of the Civil War. Read more

Yesterday, [Tuesday] millions of Americans cast their ballots. Republicans had a good night, and I congratulate all the candidates who won.

I wanted to personally address this issue. With everything these animals have done and may be capable of doing, this latest threat (whether part of their psychological propaganda or not) is a serious one.
