Obama approves sending up to 1,500 more US troops to Iraq

WASHINGTON –  President Obama has approved sending up to 1,500 additional U.S. troops to Iraq, doubling the number being deployed to help Iraqi forces fight the Islamic State.

The president also requested an additional $5.6 billion on Friday for the war against the Islamic State, in part to cover the additional deployments. Read more

A Union Army officer who stood his ground during the Battle of Gettysburg and paid with his life is receiving the nation’s highest military honor from President Barack Obama.

Obama on Thursday was bestowing the Medal of Honor on 1st Lt. Alonzo H. Cushing, who was killed in July 1863 during the three-day battle near the Pennsylvania town. The battle often is described as the turning point of the Civil War. Read more

But what stands out to me is that the message Americans sent yesterday is one you’ve sent for several elections in a row now. You expect the people you elect to work as hard as you do. You expect us to focus on your ambitions — not ours — and you want us to get the job done. Period. Read more

I wanted to personally address this issue. With everything these animals have done and may be capable of doing, this latest threat (whether part of their psychological propaganda or not) is a serious one.
