MOSCOW —Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to cut off two of the largest exports to the United States in protest of what he calls “America’s intervention in a strictly Russian affair,” the completely editorially-independent and fearless bastion of journalism Russia Today reported. Two months after the signing of the Vietnam peace agreement, the last U.S. combat troops leave South Vietnam as Hanoi frees the remaining American prisoners of war held in North Vietnam. America’s direct eight-year intervention in the Vietnam War was at an end. In Saigon, some 7,000 U.S. Department of Defense civilian employees remained behind to aid South Vietnam in conducting what looked to be a fierce and ongoing war with communist North Vietnam. We are dying. Not in some philosophical, chronological, ‘the end comes for all of us sooner or later’ sense. Just dying. Sure, it’s an occupational hazard, and yeah, you can get killed walking down the street in Anytown, USA. But not like this. Not car bombs that leave craters in the road, not jeering crowds that celebrate your destruction.Read more
Members of the U.S. military can get nostalgic about serving their country, even taking time to reminisce about how troops were disciplined.
And some of the punishments troops reminisce about are truly bizarre, according to a recent Ask Reddit thread. That thread asked users to respond to the question, “Military personnel of Reddit, what’s the best/weirdest/funniest punishment you’ve seen handed down by a superior?” Read more
I remember hearing these similarities as a girl. They are just as eerie now as the were then.
NOTE: The last entry may lead one to think Kennedy ran from the warehouse to the theater, when of course that would be Lee Harvey Oswald they are referring to.

At 4 a.m. on March 28, 1979, the worst accident in the history of the U.S. nuclear power industry begins when a pressure valve in the Unit-2 reactor at Three Mile Island fails to close. Cooling water, contaminated with radiation, drained from the open valve into adjoining buildings, and the core began to dangerously overheat. Read more
Edgar Allan Poe poses with Abraham Lincoln in Mathew Brady’s Washington, D.C. studio- February 4th, 1849.
After doing some digging it seems that while I was gone, there were changes made here at WordPress that now prevent my featured images to show up when shared on G+. (Although one of them did go through the way I wanted it to but none have since.) It looks like I may have to change the theme in order to get things back to normal. I don’t know how I’m gonna swing this one, as I like the theme I’m currently using. This is one last desperate attempt to see if I can get around all the changes. No worries, it’s just a bump in the road. I plan to have her back up and fully operational in no time! (Meaning I won’t quit till it’s right.)
😉 Wish me luck! I can’t wait to see what image they chose for this post, I added this image of Lincoln and Edgar Allan Poe that it is supposed to use, we’ll see! If anything, it’s a good conversation piece, don’t ya think? Anna
There must be something about this particular window that draws the POTUS to it. These images show just how lonely a job the leader of the free world has; the welfare of the entire world potentially rests on the decisions he makes.

The Boeing P-8 Poseidon is a multi-functional aircraft that was introduced into the U.S. Military in November 2013.
Replacing the P-3 Orion, the Poseidon is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft.
Developed from the commercial Boeing 737NG series, the P-8 truly shines in its unrivaled surveillance capabilities. It was for this reason that the U.S. used Poseidons to help in the search for the missing Malaysia MH370 flight.
CYPRUS – A team of Navy SEALs and their large Great Dane have successfully solved the mystery of the phantom oil tanker, according to a spokesman from the U.S. 6th Fleet.
This is a re-post of an earlier BRIT-speak. I need to troubleshoot a problem I seem to have with my auto posts on Google Plus. Enjoy the repeat of terms!
Here’s the ninth installment from “The Best of British.” I’ve heard maybe a handful of these terms my entire life. No wonder my friends across the pond chuckle at me; we essentially speak the same the same language but geography has played a big part in the diversity there is between the two counties. Enjoy!
Read – If someone asks you what you read at university, they mean what was your major at school.
Really – This is one of those words where you say almost the same thing as us, but just can’t be fagged to finish it off. The word is “really”, not real. You say things like it’s real hot, something’s real cool, a baby is real cute. If we said that we would be sent to the back of the class for our grammar – or lack of it! Read more
