✿ In Flanders’ Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

A Poppy~official flower for Veterans DayWe are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, loved and were loved, and now we lie in Flanders’ fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, tho poppies grow ✿
In Flanders’ fields.

Liet. -Col. John McCrae

✿ The poppy is the official flower for Veterans Day. (Remembrance Day~Canada) It was named the official flower after WWI in remembrance of those  lost in the battle at Flanders’ Fields–where poppies grew. Don’t forget to thank a Veteran this Monday, 11-11-13, and at 11:00 remember to honor them with a moment of silence. Thank you to all who have stepped upon that battle field. Thank you for your love and dedication  to keeping our shores and citizens out of harms way. We are truly in debt to you. ✿
