I’d say this man got his just desserts…
“don’t bite the hand [of the defenders of your freedom], they bite back.”
In the crazy topsy-turvy world of American politics, it seems that some people think they’re being conservative when they decide to bash the nation’s military.
Michael Schuette is one of these people.
On Veterans Day he decided to let the world know how much he didn’t respect veterans. His rant can be seen below in this screen grab from his Facebook account.
It appears that in his little temper tantrum Schuette forgot all about the two centuries worth of veterans who fought to liberate us from the British, who helped eradicate slavery, and fought off the Nazis.
What’s really weird about Schuette’s ill-advised rant is he’s actually a 2nd amendment supporter. Schuette and his wife own a gun repair shop named Outlaw Gun Repair and Hydrographing.
So it’s pretty odd that a man with those credentials would take to Facebook to bash veterans who share similar interests.
But it looks like Schuette is getting his comeuppance as the Facebook post has gone viral and people are calling for boycotts of his store.
On his Facebook Group’s page, which boasts 5,000 members, plenty of people let him know just how far over the line he stepped.
One Facebook user wrote, “So, you hate Vets huh. Happy to help spread the word about you and help boycott your business.” And another said, “Congrats on ruining your business, genius.”
In fact, it got so bad that Schuette quickly tried to do damage control by posting this.
One user wrote, “Next time don’t bite the Vets hands that feed your freedom of speech…they bite back.”
At the end of the day Schuette has the right to express his opinion. That privilege was paid for by the blood of brave patriots hundreds of years ago.
And, just as much as he is free to express his opinion, people are free to make sure his business sinks. Schuette will likely find himself trying to save as much money as he can while his sales plummet.
