Radical Turks Attack US Sailors In Istanbul

I about hit the roof when I saw this footage of, what looks to me like a failed kidnapping attempt and assault on American Sailors. In the past Turkey has been a relatively friendly port of call for our Navy. (This is more proof of the radical changes taking place world-wide). I’ve had doubts about their loyalty and agenda on ISIS and their resent acts [or lack of] in the fight against the Islamic State. This video made it clear to me–and maybe I’m placing judgment unfairly but–I no longer consider them an ally of NATO.

Image of the Day: 14 November 2014

This image from the Vietnam War clearly shows why our troops today are trained to fast rope (zip line) when inserted in a LZ. These ladders seem a little slow going, leaving opportunity for the enemy to engage, and succeed in taking out our guys.( I know firefighters are trained to retreat quickly from a ladder  by sliding down the vertical bars, but probably not practical in a war zone.)
